History of Our Firm
In 1972, Donald Bacon began practicing public accounting as an individual. Within one year, he had merged his practice with that of Mark Smith. In June of 1975, the firm of Bacon & Smith Professional Corporation was formed. Due to the continued growth of the firm, Wayne Koelling was admitted shortly thereafter as a shareholder in 1979. A few years later, in 1984, Lawrence K. Ohm and Curtis L Dykstra joined the firm as shareholders. The name was then changed to Bacon, Smith, Koelling & Ohm, P.C.
In conjunction with the move to its new office in Bourbonnais in 2002, the firm became known as Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm, P.C.
Coinciding with its steady growth, Richard Stenzinger, Marcie Meents Kolberg, Michael L. Stroud, Keith Ohm and Vicki DeYoung have been added as shareholders of the firm over the years.
