About Our Firm

In 1972, Donald Bacon began practicing public accounting as an individual. Within one year, he had merged his practice with that of Mark Smith. In June of 1975, the firm of Bacon & Smith Professional Corporation was formed. Due to the continued growth of the firm, Wayne Koelling was admitted as a shareholder in 1979. In 1984, Lawrence K. Ohm and Curtis L Dykstra joined the firm as shareholders. The name was then changed to Bacon, Smith, Koelling & Ohm, P.C. In 1992, the Corporation redeemed the stock of Donald D. Bacon. In conjunction with the move to its new office in Bourbonnais in 2002, the firm became known as Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm, P.C.

Coinciding with its steady growth, Richard Stenzinger, Marcie Meents Kolberg, Michael L. Stroud, and Keith Ohm have been added as shareholders of the firm over the years. The firm anticipates continued growth and is always looking to add professionals to its talented staff.

  • To render professional service of the highest quality.
  • To be a firm that is enjoyable to work for and rewarding to work with.
  • To grow, but never lose the local identity and personal relationship with our clients.
  • To be a good citizen in the community.
